Biography
An alumni of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, India, Director of Fame School of Dance, Drama & Music, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Associate Professor of the Department of Dramatics, University of Chittagong, Chittagong, Bangladesh.

He completed his Diploma in Dramatic Arts from National School of Drama (NSD), India (1997), Bachelor of Commerce (1986) and Master of Commerce (Management) from Chittagong University, Bangladesh. He is also a member of ‘Ganayan Natya Samprodaya’ a leading Group Theatre Troupe of Bangladesh.

Ashim directed and designed more than 80 plays with the different Theatre Troupes of Bangladesh. Working with Alliance Francaise Chittagong since August 2001 onwards and have introduced plays of some eminent French playwrights like Moliere (La-Mariage Force, George Dandin), Jean Anouilh (Antigone), Jean Giradoux (La-Folle-de-Chaillot), Andre Gide, Jean Louis Barrault (The Trial), Ionesco (The Leader, The Lesson, Rhinoceros), Samuel Becket (Waiting for Godot, All That Fall, Ohio Impromptu, Eh Joe, Catastrophe), Helen Cixous (Drums on the Dam), Albert Camus (Caligula, Les Justice) . He also Directed plays of some eminent playwrights like Rabindranath Thakur (Raktakarabi, Muktir Upay, Tasher Desh), William Shakespeare (Romeo Juliet, Julius Caesar), Franz Kafka (Metamorphosis) and more.
'Greek Trilogy- Oedipus, Oedipus at Colonus & Antigone’- a four and half an hour-long tragedy based on prominent Greek playwright Sophocles’s `Trilogy’, is one of his many notable works. With his design & direction, `Caligula’ produced by FAME participated in the prestigious theater event `8th Theater Olympic’ in 2018. FAME also participated in `Bharat Rang Mahotsav’ - a prestigious Theater Event organized by National School of Drama, India for five times with different plays designed and directed by Ashim Das.

Written plays like ‘Nuton Shinghashon Chai’, ‘Tamasha’, ‘Knocking’, ‘The Hope’- based on the works and life of Andre Malraux, ‘Aamar Aami’- based on the life and works of Binodini Dashi. Made adaptation of some plays, like Wajdi Mouawad's 'Incendies', 'Birds of a Kind', Carlo Goldoni’s ‘The Servant of Two Master’s’, Dario Fo’s, ‘Archangels Don’t Play Pinball’, ‘A Woman Alone’, ‘Waking Up’, Nirmal Varma’s ‘Derh Inch Upar’ (Hindi to Bengali), Georges Feydeau’s ‘Now You See It’, Ionesco’s ‘The Lesson’, Helen Cixous’s ‘Drums on the Dam’.
