About Ashim
A Chittagong, Bangladesh based freelance Theatre Director, Designer, Trainer and a Playwright having more than 35 years' experience. Former Chairman and Associate Professor of Department of Dramatics, University of Chittagong.

Founder Director of FAME School of Dance, Drama & Music and a member of ‘Ganayan Natya Samprodaya’ a leading Theatre Troupe of Bangladesh. He is also a member of International Theater Institute (ITI) and International Dance Council (CID).


Ashim Das directed and designed more than 80 plays with the various Theatre Troupes of Bangladesh. He has been working with Alliance Francaise Chittagong, Dhaka and Embassy of France, Bangladesh since August 2001 and have introduced plays of some eminent French playwrights like Moliere (La-Mariage Force, George Dandin), Jean Anouilh (Antigone), Jean Giradoux (La-Folle-de-Chaillot), Andre Gide, Jean Louis Barrault (The Trial), Ionesco (The Leader, The Lesson, Rhinoceros), Samuel Becket (Waiting for Godot, All That Fall, Ohio Impromptu, Eh Joe, Catastrophe), Helen Cixous (Drums on the Dam), Albert Camus (Caligula, Les Justes).

​`Greek Trilogy- Oedipus, Oedipus at Colonus & Antigone’- a four and a half an hour long tragedy of prominent Greek playwright Sophocles, is one of his many notable works. With his design & direction, `Caligula’ produced by FAME participated in the prestigious theater event `8th Theater Olympic’ in 2018. FAME has also participated in `Bharat Rang Mahotsav’, a prestigious Theater Festival organized by National School of Drama (NSD), with the productions such as ‘’The Trial” (2008), “Mad Woman of Chilot” (2010), “Drums on the Dam” (2013), “The Servant of Two Masters” (2016), “Oedipus” (2019) - directed and designed by Ashim Das.
